On December 10, 2025, during the 20th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage taking place in New Delhi, a national nomination of the Republic of Tajikistan “Culture of Sumanak cooking” was adopted and inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On October 31, 2025, on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Director-General of UNESCO, Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in priority areas, including science and education, the protection of cultural heritage, the natural sciences, as well as water-related issues.

Toplantıda Tacikistan ile UNESCO arasındaki temel işbirliği alanları tartışıldı ve taraflar eğitim, bilim ve kültür alanlarında işbirliğinin geliştirilmesine yönelik görüş alışverişinde bulundu.

Aynı zamanda Mayıs 2025’te Duşanbe’de düzenlenecek Yüksek Düzeyli Uluslararası Buzulların Korunması Konferansı hakkında da görüş bildirdiler.

On December 11, 2024 at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Ismatullo Nasredin and UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences Ms. Lidia Brito.

During the meeting, the main areas of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNESCO were discussed, and the parties exchanged views on the prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture.
