On April 27, 2023 Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations (UN) Jonibek Hikmat met with the Under-Secretary-General for policy Mr. Guy Ryder.

 

 

 

During the meeting, parties exchanged views on the results of the UN Water Conference, where Tajikistan acted as the co-host, and on the importance of including water in global processes, including “Our Common Agenda” proposed by the UN Secretary-General.

The parties also discussed the strengthening of cooperation to mainstream water as cross-sectorial issue in the UN policy briefs.

On 23 March 2023 in New York on the margins of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Mr. Li Junhua.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNDESA, including joint actions to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and expressed interest in continuing to follow up the results of the UN Water Conference.

Li Junhua expressed his gratitude to the Government of Tajikistan for promoting global water and climate issues and expressed UNDESA’s willingness to implement the decisions of the UN General Assembly and continue to coordinate and collaborate with Tajikistan in holding international events.
