On April 23, 2024, during the official visit of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon to the Italian Republic, the Parties signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Italian Republic on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.

On the basis of the signed agreement, citizens of each Party who are holders of diplomatic passports may enter, exit, transit and stay in the territory of the other Party without obtaining a visa for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. This exemption is valid for the relevant period or at ninety (90) day intervals for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of entry into the territory of the receiving Party.

For citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, the period of 90 days starts from the first day of entry into the Schengen zone.

This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite term and shall enter into force thirty (30) days after receipt of the last written notification through diplomatic channels of the completion of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of this Agreement.

An awareness campaigns regarding Armenian mine terror were organized in London and Manchester
Awareness campaigns reflecting the tragic consequences of the mines massively buried in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan during the years of occupation by the Armenian armed forces were run in the cities of London and Manchester.

 

 

 

During the awareness campaigns organized by the British Azerbaijan Society, trucks with LED screens displaying various slogans, hashtags and information moved through the crowded central streets of London and Manchester. During the eight hours campaign, the car attracted the attention of local residents by passing through London’s Oxford Street, Regent Street, Picadilly, Westminster Bridge, Parliament Square and Manchester’s Picadilly Gardens, King Street, New Cathedral Street, Cheetham Hill Road and Canal Street.

 

 

 

 

It was underlined that, 1.5 million landmines were buried in Azerbaijan during the years of occupation by the armed forces of Armenia, 147,988 hectares are still classed as highly contaminated areas, while 675,570 hectares are considered medium and low threat areas. It was also mentioned that 3393 people, including children have become landmine victims since 1991, while the number of landmine victims between the dates November 10, 2020 and September 19, 2023. reached 314 people. The facts regarding the death of 67 people as a result of landmine explosions, hashtags such as #stoparmeniancrimes, #MapsForKarabakhSafety, #KarabakhSafety were reflected on the slogans.

On May 11, on the sidelines of the 31st anniversary of bilateral relations and at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Turkiye, an event dedicated to the water diplomacy of Tajikistan was held at the Institute for Strategic Thinking.

 

 

The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkey, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (online), Director of Institute for Strategic Thinking and a young scientist from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan took part and spoke in the event.

On March 14, 2023, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, at the initiative of the Permanent Delegations of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, a solemn festive event took place on the occasion of celebration of the International Day of Navruz.

 

 

 

 

 

The gathering was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions, managing staff and representatives of UNESCO Secretariat, ministries and agencies, scientific and cultural circles of France, as well as Tajik diaspora.

The Permanent Delegation of Tajikistan to UNESCO arranged an exposition with national Tajik dishes, promotional materials and photographs of Tajikistan.

A cultural program by masters of arts was presented for the guests of the event.

On March 2, 2023, on occasion of the upcoming UN 2023 Water Conference scheduled to be held in New York on March 22-24, 2023, official joint event by the Embassies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands was organized in Seoul. The event was attended by distinguished leaders and representatives from relevant structures of the Republic of Korea, as well as international institutions specializing in the fields of water and climate.

During the address, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Korea Sharifzoda Yusuf presented information on the United Nations’ endorsement of the Republic of Tajikistan’s initiatives on the resolution “2025 – International Year of Glacier Preservation”, as well as the administrative arrangements for the upcoming UN Water Conference, which will be co-chaired by the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
